It’s that time of the year again where all fashion houses start to showcase their forthcoming trends for the changeover season.
Last Wednesday night, January 21, Pip Edwards and the General Pants Co. bunch opened the doors of their Sydney head-quarters to unveil their A/W 15’ exhibit.
With flutes flowing of champagne and tables complete with luscious canapé’s, I was free to browse through what on-trend pieces the #1 youth retailer had on offer for the approaching cooler seasons.
Wandering through the showroom, I realised that there is something for all this season. From 90’s utility to all things retro, there’s a strong 90’s undertone that is anchored around vintage denim washes. A/W 15’ also see’s the return of 70’s and 80’s inspired soft rock that brings with it a touch of bohemian style.
We’re talking PU biker jackets, sheer checkered maxi skirts, knitted halter crops, distressed denim, colourful culottes and oversized olive anoraks and bomber jackets.
‘Street wear of the world’ was the inspiration for menswear A/W 15’ at General Pants Co. Your global trend hunters created the fusion between the psych rock movement and street fashion from the UK and US. I can say the looks are representative of a modern Jimi Hendrix, Pharell Williams and the UK beat boy scene. Without a doubt I can say that Stussy will be dominating menswear this season and will be supported by a new influx of men’s accessories.
Brands to look out for this season!
Insight (women’s): The revival of surf punk.
Ksubi: This season will play witness to the notoriously cheeky fashion empire releasing a sportswear range. Although not pictured below I have seen some of the styles and Ksubi has hit a home run with its active wear making it not just for the gym but utilitarian with a fashion forward twist. Favourite piece includes a reversible spray jacket!
Store Room Vintage: The crème de la crème for rare and hand-sourced vintage clothing from the USA- the dreamland of thrift shopping. But be quick, it will be hitting 10 General Pants stores this month.
Product was styled and paired back with amazing hats from Agent Ninetynine & Neon Hart which featured feathers, gold chain links, simple fedora styles and my favourite Neon Hart’s metal trim fedora!
